Our trainees were back with us again today, with a morning session delivered by our director, Rob Tweats, OAKS Personal Tutor, Mike Bambury and Head of the Strategic Board at The OAKS and deputy head at Walton High School, Dr. Jo Rowley. During the session, they outlined what makes a good letter and examined two examples produced by OAKS Personal Tutors, Dave Da Silva and Andy Clifton.
Dave and Andy were given different roles prior to the session, with Dave being the ‘unprepared, loose cannon’ who is creative in the classroom. Andy’s letter and interview techniques were more polished, with some textbook answers. Dave on the other-hand, produced a generic application letter with some obvious errors. His answers were either brief, under planned or frankly worrying!
The session also described what the trainees know about the interview procedure and what to expect from the day itself. Each of the presenters discussed tips for the interviews and provided insights into the decision process.
We’d like to thank Rob, Mike and especially Jo for the extremely well-received session. We’d also like to thanks Dave & Andy, who found the whole process more terrifying than an actual application and interview. In terms of the interviewee role’s though…..typecasting? I think so!
