At The OAKS
We realise that training to teach is very rewarding, but challenging; so we make sure that every trainee teacher (TT) is given first class support whether it be at the OAKS (on Keele University campus) or within our many partnership schools.
We have made the trainee teacher (you) at the centre of our model of support - as the diagram shows
Each trainee gets a personal tutor (OPT) who will support you throughout the course and at all of your secondary school placements.
In schools there will be two staff looking after you. Your subject mentor (SM) and the professional tutor (PT).
We want you to have both academic and teaching support so there is also a subject expert (SE) having an input with you and if needed a support tutor. For academic writing you will also have a PGCE tutor from Keele University. All of this experience is checked by our quality assurance officer. If things go wrong whilst training in schools we would introduce 'support for concern' (S4C) which hopefully would get you through any difficulties.
Being located on the Keele campus we have many superb support mechanisms in place to make your time at the OAKS both enjoyable and comfortable.
As well as our many other campus facilities set in a beautiful green campus:
Shops – Banks – Crèche – Nursery – Book shop – Multi-faith church – Sports facilities
